A Small Medium Enterprise (SME) manufacturer headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, Lynch’s value to NASA is the ability to go from idea, concept, schematics, 3D models, engineering analysis including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and all the engineering expertise/Intellectual Property (IP) to handle all the iterations of the Space Launch System (SLS) Umbilical Arm Projects.

The complexity of moving from drawings into actual metal cutting/production/assembly/testing is very difficult and is appreciated by NASA engineers. Communication is essential as a timeline to expedite these projects is continuously fluctuating due to internal and geopolitical circumstances. This World-renowned space organization appreciates dealing with a stable, 35+-year-old company with global expertise in its field. Lynch is certified ISO/AS9100/Controlled Goods, Defense Logistics Agency within its own QMS/CI program.

This presentation will be a case study of the design, modelling, manufacturing, assembly, testing and delivery of the hydraulic motion-control sub-assemblies for NASA’s Space Launch System.
