Dr. Ahmed Damir is a research officer at the National Research Council of Canada in the Aerospace Manufacturing Technology Centre since 2008. He is also an Adjunct Assistant professor at McMaster University since June 2021. Dr. Damir has more than two decades of professional expertise in the area of Sustainable manufacturing, hybrid additive/subtractive manufacturing and high-performance/high-speed manufacturing processes. He completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at McMaster University in January 2010. His background in modelling, design, simulation, and optimization of manufacturing of aerospace materials has contributed to his successful work with many national and international aerospace companies that led to industrialized technologies such as cryogenic technology, Minimum Quantity Lubrication, and process development of hybrid Additive Subtractive Manufacturing. Throughout his career, Dr. Damir has been recognized for his contributions, including the 2019 Outstanding Singular Achievement award for his achievement in the optimization of manufacturing of additively manufactured aerospace components.
