Director, Computational Science Research
Francesco ‘Frio’ Iorio is a Distinguished Research Scientist and head of the Computational Science Group at Autodesk Research in Toronto, Canada. His research focuses on software scalability, hybrid computing, accelerator systems and general design and exploitation of high performance platforms. His interests are in the application of mathematical modeling, machine learning and High Performance Computing to overcome design and scientific challenges, by empowering people with the ability to explore spaces of complex, often unintuitive solutions that exploit the rapid advances in manufacturing and material science.
He is the Principal Investigator for project Dreamcatcher, the first Generative Design solution for manufacturing.
Prior to Autodesk, Frio was a Solution Architect for Next Generation Computing Systems at the IBM High Performance Computing Group in Dublin, where he was the lead solution architect for all Cell Broadband Engine processor (Cell/B.E.) related projects in the fields of scientific computing, finance and high-throughput data analysis.
